bobterri
I tried to download and install jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin, I followed the directions and when I got to the 'rpm -iv jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586-rpm' step, it tells me that jre-1.5.0_01-fcs is already installed, but when I search for it or the plugin for Mozilla it is no where to be found. Can anyone help me?
Crashdamage
In a terminal, type "rpm -ql j2re" (no qoutes). If it really is installed, that will list all the files the Java package installed and their locations.
bobterri
I issued the command you suggested crashdamage but it returned no installed packages. So, I went to the "remove packages" tool and it told me that it was installed. I found it was installed in the /usr/java directory. I don't understand why "whereis" "locate" and "find / -name" commands would not find the direcory. Anyways, I found it and installed the plugin in mozilla and firefox and now I'm happy.
