Padma
zarb is down again, and this sgrayban is posting links to *his* copy of easyurpmi in threads over at LinuxQuestions. According to him, zarb is having problems with the hosting company. From what I have seen here, I begin to wonder if he is hacking zarb to get "control" over easyurpmi. I know, probably just my personal paranoia.

I know, probably just my personal paranoia. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that's what it seems like. He's trying to get is own mandrake RPMS into mainstream Mandrake. Thats what I dont like though....... If he has to do something like that to be noticed, i dont trust him, his rpms could be 'dirty' and they've already proven that they're terribly made. I might pull the OFFICIAL easyurpmi from the OFFICIAL CVS and host a copy, then we can link to that instead while zarb is down. iphitus
solarian
Just yesterday I sent my sister over email easy urpmi server list. She lives in the UK and runs MDK 10.0, but you can just modify the "10.0" to "10.1". Even if easy urpmi is down, the servers are not. She couldn't access the easyurpmi website, but I still could. weird... anyways -> I had to reinstall Mandrake today (no thanx to the stupid xorg-devel!!) and it depressed me when I learned that PLF is offline, but with modifying the address I got PLF added to my database. [root@localhost]# urpmi.addmedia plf ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandrake/10.1 with hdlist.cz added medium plf examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Installation CD 2 (cdrom2).cz] examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.update_source.cz] examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Installation CD 3 (cdrom3).cz] examining synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Installation CD 1 (cdrom1).cz] computing md5sum of existing source hdlist (or synthesis) retrieving source hdlist (or synthesis) of "plf"... ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandrake/10.1/hdlist.cz found probed hdlist (or synthesis) as hdlist.cz ...retrieving done examining hdlist file [/var/cache/urpmi/partial/hdlist.plf.cz] writing list file for medium "plf" examining pubkey file of "plf"... ...imported key caba22ae from pubkey file of "plf" built hdlist synthesis file for medium "plf" found 0 headers in cache removing 0 obsolete headers in cache write config file [/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg] [root@localhost]# So now I here list the EasyUrpmi with all options. The servers are those of UK though, you'll need to change them by hand if must. Also modify accordingly to your MDK version -> urpmi.addmedia plf ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandrake/10.0 with hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia updates ftp://ftp.sunsite.org.uk/package/mandrakelinux/official/updates/10.0/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia main ftp://ftp.sunsite.org.uk/package/mandrakelinux/official/10.0/i586/Mandrake/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia contrib ftp://ftp.sunsite.org.uk/package/mandrakelinux/official/10.0/contrib/i586 with ../../i586/Mandrake/base/hdlist2.cz urpmi.addmedia jpackage ftp://ftp.sunsite.org.uk/package/mandrakelinux/official/10.0/contrib/jpackage/i586 with ../../../i586/Mandrake/base/hdlist3.cz urpmi.addmedia club ftp://ftp.sunsite.org.uk/package/mandrakelinux/devel/testing/Mandrakeclub/10.0 with hdlist.cz hope this helps in this dark hour cheers! solarian
For me the UK contrib didn't work, and so didn't Poland, but I went to Poland's server and manually found the path. This contrib should work -> urpmi.addmedia contrib ftp://ftp.icm.edu.pl/pub/Linux/distributions/mandrakelinux/devel/10.1/i586/media/contrib/ with ../../Mandrake/base/hdlist.cz
aRTee
When I said the original easyurpmi site had hardware issues, this was directly from an email to me from trem, the guy who maintains easyurpmi.zarb.org Seems they had some hardware failures (which happens - make backups guys and gals!) - something I doubt this other guy can make happen on a remote system... I think he just jumped to the opportunity.
Padma
I see, aRTee. I hadn't understood that you had direct communication with the site maintainer. :) Hardware problems I can understand. (All too well! ;) ) Given that, this other guy just sounds like an opportunist.
ChrisM
Looks like its all up and running once again... easyurpmi rules OK! B)
Guest sgrayban
This announcement did not come from those who work on easyurpmi, nor zarb. This sgrayban dude isnt mentioned anywhere within easyurpmi's site and if easyurpmi were going to move, you'd expect some forewarning. Easyurpmi seems to be maintained by someone named trem. Has he announced anything? Is there any reference to him in the new sites? No. I think it is someone attempting to hijack easyurpmi. It's past the deadline and the original site is still up and there is no announcement from the official owners of it. It's like when that fool signed up to the Xorg mailing list and announced Xorg6.8 released, when it had not been, in an attempt to bring it forward. spinynorman: could you change the FAQ links back until we hear an *official* response? iphitus <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was mirroring them until they started dying randomly and I got tired of it. There wasnt any hijacking of anything going on. Please get your s**t right next time before you start bashing here. Edited by anon.
Guest anon
Hullo sgrayban, Welcome to the board. Looks like easy-urpmi has four mirrors now eh?. I have edited your post and put some **** in a certain word.
iphitus
sgrayban: Please accept my apologies, I was misinformed and I jumped to an incorrect conclusion, I am sorry for my words, i was wrong. welcome to the board anyway, please forgive my naive assumption, it'd be great if you'd stick around, we need more experienced members and you'd be welcome :) round of beer on me :D :D
Padma
I apologize as well, sgrayban. As you pointed out on LQ, My information was incorrect, and led to wrong conclusions.
