santner
I have two computers connected on a locan LAN through a 4-port linksys router. I have nfs set up on both computers, and it worked fine on both computers until I booted into windows on one of them. When I rebooted back into Mandrake it froze for what must have been 10 minutes on 'mounting nfs filesystems'. So now I have nfs working on one computer but not on the other. I have checked the /etc/exports file for both and they seem fine. I have also done: rpcinfo -p and it shows that the normal nfs daemons are running. After I boot into Mandrake, if I try to mount the nfs from the command line I receive no errors and it just sits there, not doing anything. Has anyone seen this before? Gowator
have you resarted the nfs service on the server you are trying to mount... it probably thinks its still connected... even though it isn't?
santner
I have. I actually rebooted and double checked that it is set to start when booting up.
Gowator
Ok try 1/ unmount all shares from the client 2/ stop nfs 3/ delete any lock files in /var/lock which are nfs.. then check permissions (shouldn't have changed) restart nfs do an exportfs -ra just to check ... no errors try and remount manually... try hinting it with -t nfs ? oh and check you don't have security stuff running... that killed me and I was desperate and ended up trashing my MDK 10.1 install and sticking deb on instead... santner
I bet thats it. I forgot that on the server machine I setup a firewall (shorewall) through MCC. I only allow http, ftp and ssh and I denied all others which is probably the source of my problem. Thanks for jogging my memory with: oh and check you don't have security stuff running... santner
Worked great. Security setup was the issue!
