you have to update your kdebase and kde-relevant libraries first. they are still in the kde 3.2 satus while the packages you are trying to install are coded for kde 3.3. ;)

do "urpmi --auto-select" first. this will update the whole system. afterwards you should be able to install the above mentioned packages .

as far as i can see, your comp has problems to "mix" packages, which is understandable. in case you haven't tried yet, uninstall all kde packages and remove all /.kde etc. folders in the root and home directories (can be done from console or, if you prefer from e.g. icewm). then reinstall the kde 3.3 packages.

The good news is that KDE has it's own working menu editor and you can do whatever changes you want. ;)

I did a rpm -rebuilddb, then I completely uninstalled KDE 3.2 using rpmdrake from Gnome. I did another rpm -rebuilddb just to make sure the rpm db is ok. After this I installed KDE 3.3 using Thac's rpms. And that's all.

I have just done a fresh new install of 10.1 from cds, and have the exact same problem going on with the KDE portion of my updates run.

Quest #1: Who are "thac's rpms" and why would they be better than the mdk recommended replacements?

Quest #2: Any chance that by just doing the "rpm -rebuilddb" that I will be able to then run updates and finish my KDE 3.3 installs? (Or is there an additional complication also messing things up?)
