Guest lapideus
Hi, does someone have experiences with the adaptec 2400a SATA Raid Controller? Unfortunately I have a lot of problems with this device (Raid 5). I am using the AMD 64bit beta version of Mandrake 10.1 and it is not able to insmod dpt_i2o with the controller. During installation I get the follwoing messages: insmod'ing module dpt_i2o failed at /usr/bin/perl-install/modules.pm line 302 Interface(s) "Distributed Processing Tech|SmartRAID V Controller", "parport_pc", "imm", "ppa" detected Are there further devices? if you say no, the following text appears: An error ocurred. There were no devices found on which file systems can be created. Please check your hardware and configuration for possible errors and wrong settings. Sorry if some of the text sounds funny, I have translated it from german. Can someone give me a hint what to to? Can the official version help me out? Are there kernel parameters that can be altered? How would I do that during installation? Thanks in advance! cheers, Bruno
pmpatrick
You can pass kernel parameters by hitting F1 at the install screen which will take you to a boot prompt at which you type: linux <insert kernel parameters separated by commas> The usual suspects to try are "noapic, noloapic, nodma". Try this first: linux noapic, noloapic If that doesn't work, try throwing in "nodma". But before trying to do any of that, I'd try the final version first. No point killing yourself trying to get a beta to run. Edited November 15, 2004 by pmpatrick
