Installation hangs no matter WHAT I do.... HELP!

How do you enable/disable the onboard sound? Through the bios?

yes-should be an option in the bios for that.

 

edit: if not, pull out your mobo manual and look for a jumper that does it for you. it's either an on-board jumper or in the bios...but most likely it's in the bios.

and yes, the onboard sound is enabled/disabled in Bios - can't remember where though, but it's easy

ok one last guess try passing idebus=66 or idebus=100. 

with the appropriate bios settings 

maybe that works???????????

That would be a very dangereous thing to do since the motherboard's hardware will almost surely fail to sustain a PCI bus speed that is 2X or 3X its rated value (normal PCI bus clock speed is 33MHz). When u r suspecting a hardware problem always use the most conservative BIOS settings (and kernel parameters).
