Borys
Hello! I tried to use MPlayer to play a movie with .mp4-extension. I get picture, but there is no sound. In GUI I got an error message: "Cannot find codec for audio format 0x6134706D". I tried to run it in the terminal and then I got some more information. Trying to force audio codec driver family libmad... Requested audio codec family [faad] (afm=faad) not available. Enable it at compilation. Cannot find codec for audio format 0x6134706D. Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html! ========================================================================== vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0" => local display) ========================================================================== Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family Selected video codec: [ffodivx] vfm:ffmpeg (FFmpeg MPEG-4) ========================================================================== Audio: no sound Starting playback... Could someone tell me what kind of codecs I need and how do I install them? The problem is that codecs generally are one big abracadabra for me, because I watch movies on PC very rarely. Thanks for help. P.S.: I installed MPlayer from rpm. Maybe this is the problem? I am going to try to compile it from sources on weekend, but right now I am wondering - how can I add just this problematic codec to MPlayer after it has been installed. devries
It's an Apple codec. You need to install the faac package (it's in PLF). (Disclaimer: it didn't work for me. I had to compiled mplayer myself)
