a13x
I don't know if it is just me but cut/copy-paste doesn't behave right. For example. I copy a link in Netscape and I want to paste it in Gaim. If I close Netscape the link is no longer in the clipboard. Linux "forgets" it. Otherwise it works. Why does it behave so stupid ? bvc
because netscape is not completely/properly integrated into your de.
a13x
And how would I integrate it properly ?
Guest MadDog
And how would I integrate it properly ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also, just to check, how do you go about doing a copy paste operation?
bvc
And how would I integrate it properly ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> are you going to recode netscape? ;) You can't. Are you in kde or gnome? or other? ...and cannonfodder asked...how are you cp/pst'ing?
a13x
cannonfodder I use: Ctrl +C (or X) and then Ctrl + P. bvc are you going to recode netscape? I know some C++ :P I just need to learn the advanced stuff after OOP. Now really, if I were an advanced C++ programmer I would have tried to recode Netscape. Of course I'm in GNOME. I told you I switched to GNOME and I'm no longer using KDE. And btw I'm going to try that update you suggested. The thing is, I've been busy lately. bvc
if Ctrl+C > Ctrl+V doesn't do it then it ain't happening, unless someone knows something I don't. use Epiphany....I know the bkmks suck but it is very much integrated in gnome. a13x
Silly me, I meant Ctrl + V for pasting. In this case I'll have to keep the window open for cuting/pasting.
bvc
sadly, gnome has never been as good at this as kde. Last night I copied from gedit>closed it>pasted to epiphany....and it didn't work, and I KNOW I've does that many times. You win some....you lose some.....oh well, not going to kde over it
a13x
Gotcha ! It happened to the GNOME master as well It's obviously GNOME's fault and not Netscape. I'll still be using GNOME because it looks so damn good (moded). Maybe KDE is a little more functional & easy to configure but I'm not going to dump GNOME because of this bug, that will get fixed .... hopefully. coverup
Why don't you do things Linux/Unix way? It has always been that highlighting a text string puts it in a clipboard, and pasting is done by middle click. Works in any DE. Even if you use a wheel mouse, the wheel can (and should!) be setup to emulate the middle button.

Imagine..... the clipboard has greatly improved since gnome2.4...now, image what gnome 1.4 was like

My cut and paste habits were formed when I was using twm on Sparc 4. Ctrl+here and Ctrl+there, that reminds me of soM$ething...
