Some errors and warnings

I don't know if this the right place to post it.....her we go:

 

I've just checked my sys log I found some warnings and errors, I just made a clean installing with 10.1

I would start with your file /etc/postfix/main.cf

 

Try searching google for that and localhost and find a clue to fix it. Or you can try posting it here...

 

Postfix is your email software. You can also try searching on postfix and configuration. There's lots of material up there.. let us know what you find!

MDK 10.1-CE seems to have postfix enabled by default. If you're running a single user machine and getting your email from your ISP via pop, you don't need to run postfix. You can disable postfix through Mandrake Control Centre-> System->Services. Just uncheck the "start at boot" option for postfix.

 

I've periodically thought about enabling a local mail server. There a few utilities that like to send mail messages -- like the security services -- that have no where to write but the system logs. It would good to have a local email service like ancient UNIX boxes. However, today's mail transports are designed to operate over the internet and it's not obvious how to configure them for purely local use.
