MPlayer keeps crashing

Open it from a console and see what errors you're getting. (BTW is it mplayer or gmplayer (mplayer with a gui) that you are using? If it's gmplayer my guess would be a problem with the skin. Easiest solution: remove the folder $HOME/.mplayer, more elegant solution edit the gui.conf and change gui_skin to Default.)

Through the terminal, the application at least launches...though unuseable.
