mandrake 10 setup cant find cd rom drive

I downloaded the 3 mandrake 10 isos and burnt them to cds. When i boot from the 1st cd it comes up with the screen telling me to press F1 or Enter. I press enter then it comes up saying that the cd rom drive cant be found and then asks me to insert an additional driver disk, which i dont have. What do I do?

Thx in advance!

Btw im using a Dell Lattitude X200 laptop

It seems that that particular laptops is especially hard to install Linux into no matter what distro it is. There is an option of ftp installation if you have broadband if you know how.

 

Anyway, I searched around and found a couple of links. One of the links in particular give a success story of installing Mandrake 9.1 via CDROM. Look it up, maybe it gives you hints.

95% of dell laptop will not work with Mandrake or other linux,I hope you have luck with yours.

damn it didnt work! :wall:

does anyone have any more ideas?

btw my x200 uses the media bay and not the firewire cd rom

also i have a usb cd rom drive if i could use that so if anyone knows how to get it to use the usb one that would be great!

i can boot into the linux setup via usb cd but it cant find it either.
