Firewire HD trouble

Hi,

I've been using MDK 10.0 for a few weeks now and I can't seem to get it to recognize my firewire HD. The drive itself is a maxtor 160gb w/ a 160gb ntfs partition and I can see that in my disk section of the hardware browser and it says it should be /dev/sda. Unfortunately diskdrake doesn't have the tab for sda. When I try to manually mount the drive i get: "special device /dev/sda1 does not exist" listing the partitions using fdisk gives me nothing for /dev/sda. I booted into Knoppix cd 3.4 to see if it was hardware failure but knoppix automounted the drive fine and i was able to browse my files. If anyone has any insight as to how I could get this drive to work in mdk 10 i would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

CD
