santner
Can't get dsl working. My NIC: ADM983 Linksys EtherFast 10/100 and the module is tulip which loads during boot When I go to network in MCC it lists eth0 as VIA Technologies(VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133]) which seems odd to me since that is my chipset and not my NIC, but this is my FIRST time setting up dsl so what do I know. Eth1 is listed as my NIC which again is ADM983 Linksys EtherFast 10/100. In MCC I set both up exactly the same. Provider name: sbcglobal.net First DNS Server: 151.164.1.8 Second DNS Server: 151.164.8.201 Account Login: username@sbcglobal.net Account Password: *********** Then I run: ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-D0-03-56-00-A5-19-A4-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) and ifconfig eth1 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:5A:4D:2F:D1 inet6 addr: fe80::204:5aff:fe4d:2fd1/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:30 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:5 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:1800 (1.7 Kb) TX bytes:378 (378.0 B) Interrupt:9 Base address:0xee00 Both have UP next to broadcast and yet I get nothing. Even something as simple as typing http://192.168.0.1 in firefox does not get me anywhere. Can't ping it either. Like I said earlier, I am a dsl noobie but am decent otherwise, any help is obviously very appreciated. spiedra
There shouldn't be need to enter this info manually. Go into mcc, then network, and let Mandrake detect and configure your connection. Any further issues, post them.
santner
Well if I go into MCC, I first choose ADSL. Then I select between eth0(VIA Chipset) and eth1(NIC card). Next I enter the provider name, DNS servers, username and password. Then it asks me if I want to start this connection when I boot which I do and finally it asks if I want to restart the network connection which I do. Then after about 5 seconds it states that it was successful, however I still have no dsl access to the internet. My previous postings had ifconfig for eth0 and eth1 which is the output AFTER I set up eth0/1 in MCC. I don't know where to go from here. :o
