MDK 10.0: Audigy, can you hear me?

I've just installed Mdk 10.0.

As soon as X and KDE started everything (almost; I'll leave the ADSL question for another topic) worked allright; I could even hear the sound: this was the first mandrake distro that recognized automatically the SBlaster audigy! great!

YET:

yet, the third time I rebooted the sound disappeared. I've checked the mixer, and it seems allright.

What's happened???

check your mixer if something is muted. also look in e.g. kcontrol center ("configure my desktop") in the sound section -> sound setup, then on the right select the "hardware" tab and change from "auto select" to ALSA or OSS (ALSA works for most).
