Guest slimick
I noticed earlier in the week that I had too many user files that were open to other eyes. I then went to each user directory and did a "chmod 755 /home/name". Something went wrong. No user can log in from the console, although one can log in from other places. Even the penguins on the screen have been converted to different style icon (cut out of featureless user). After I log in as a user, I cannot access anything in /etc/alternatives . The protection on that directory is set as 755, but EVEN AS ROOT I cannot access g++ or any of the other packages there -- or even locate them using "locate". And I can't find the default template for the bash profile and important things like that. And it was working so well. Thx in advance john slimick slimick@pitt.edu
