photoworks
i received yersterday the package for the discovery edition of Mandrake 10.0. so i started the installation process. i already have windows xp professional in ntfs format installed. First i partitionned my hard disk with partition magic 8.0 : i created a primary partition for swap, then a primary partition for linux. Then i was unable to create an extended partition for my common data. Well, i forgot about it and installed mandrake anyway. The installation was successful and i did not lose windows xp integrity i updated from the mandrake website for the package. Now when i try to launch openoffice.org application, the application starts to launch, then nothing happen. Does anyone have an idea why ? The other thing is that i would like to reinstall mandrake from scratch so that i can create an extended partition for my data.
arctic
when i try to launch openoffice.org application, the application starts to launch, then nothing happen try to start it as root using a console, typing e.g. oowriter. if it doesn't work it will tell us at least, why it won't open. reinstalling mdk is simple. just insert the cds at booting once again and do a clean install. ;)
photoworks
thanks. one last question, how do i create an extended partition for my data so that they can be accessed either from windows xp or from mandrake.
arctic
use partitionmagic. make the partition in fat32 format, thus, both systems can read and write on that partition.
