Guest Gianni Valenti
Hi! I'm a not so expert php programmer and I try to administrate a webserver whith Mandrake Linux 9.1. I installed php 4.3.1 using mandrake rpm and now I would like to upgrade to the new php5, but I cannot get the rpm and I would try to compile php on my own. Should I uninstall the old php (and how?) before compiling php5? Do you think this will work simply whith the old "./configure ..." string and after typing "make install" or I'll have to do some more configuration? I know theese are stupid questions, but if something goes wrong I wouldn't know how to repair to the problem. Thanks a lot and please excuse me for my bad english. Guest anon
Welcome to the board. From what i have read, php-5 although technically finished is still not ready for a production server. I would like to upgrade to it myself, but think its just a little too early yet.
