humano457
I don't know what I did, but, now when I get in the console it appears david@tutopia instead of david@localhost. When I was trying to configure my internet access I put many times Tutopia and its phone number, then, I realized my modem wasn't being recognized (PCTEL), but, how do I change it back to localhost, when I load GNOME it shows an error, telling me it can't connect tutopia, so , please help me! Thanks!
Ixthusdan
In an editor as root, open /etc/sysconfig/network. Change hostname to say HOSTNAME=localhost You could also make it say something like "tutopia.home.net" in order to satisfy gnome.
iphitus
....wouldnt that new hostname have to be added to /etc/hosts too?
Ixthusdan
I haven't done that, and have no problem. I do know that adding it to /etc/hosts does not alter the host name at all.
