Guest boonders
I'm using the linux kernel (non-enterprise) and when it boots, the loader is suppressing error messages with black. I want to be able to view them because X is very unstable after this latest install of Mandrake 9.0. Also, on that note, anybody know where to find X errors? or perhaps have it print more indepth errors? Thanks
bvc
the loader is suppressing error messages with black.Never heard of that. Choose your preferences in Mandrake Control Center>Boot>Boot Config>Configure. anybody know where to find X errors?/var/log/XFree86.0.log or XFree86.9.log, and ~/.xsession-errors. That's /home/your_name/.xsession-errors.
Cannonfodder
I think its a quiet option in the /etc/lilo.conf file..
pmpatrick
To get all your boot messages, immediately after booting run "dmesg" from a console.
bvc
For me, all the quiet option has ever done is suppress about the first 7 seconds of the boot. So I didn't figure this is what you're talking about. Errors are in /var/log/whatever, usually messages is a good place to start.
