kenton
I just did a pretty default install of Mandrake X, with some of the optional packages selected (BitchX, GAIM, etc. . .). I cannot find the "Theme Manager" menu in Configure your Computer. I've downloaded a few themes and extracted them to the Theme directory, but I still can't find the actual Theme Manager to switch themes. Can anyone help? Thanks! arctic
hmmm... are you referring to the kde desktop? if yes, your themes can be selected not via "configure your computer", but "configure your desktop". if you are running gnome, choose the gnome control center. for the other ones (fluxbox, icewm,...), you have to copy the styles to the appropriate styles-directory. ;) Edited August 4, 2004 by arctic
Ixthusdan
Additionally, in kde many themes are not "themed" at all. You select their attributes in varios areas: icons, styles, and window decorations, and backgrounds. By selecting the named theme in each catagory, you end up with all of the theme. Not all themes contain all components.
kenton
Yes, I'm using KDE. I've read that there's a Theme Manager option under Look/Feel under Config your Desktop. But I still cannot find it?
arctic
aaahh... i just realized what you mean... what you are talking about will be implemented in kde 3.3. so, you have to install the 3.3-testing version or you have to wait 'till the final release. :D
kenton
Do you know when the next public release of Mandrake is coming out? I'm 56k with no alternative options but satellite internet, and I can't front the $600 for that, so in other words, I often buy the downloadable images on CD from cheapbytes, or other sources.
