Can someone please tell me how to switch from Gnome to using KDE graphics environment, is there a file somewhere I can do the edit and switch, the server I am using is in a network closet and I just want to switch my profile.

Also, in Mozilla, when I click on some pictures, it comes up with a separate window but with text but no picture. When I right click on the picture, it came up with an error message "Function disabled: Copyright text, images and code"

Thanks in advance

You need a login manager like kdm, or you could just type 'kde' at the prompt :) (or if that doesn't work the full path /usr/bin/startkde)

The mozilla thing is likely someone who doesn't like you copying pictures from his/her site. Don't worry about that and look in your browsercache.

it can be that your server has been set up that you can ONLY use gnome and nothing else. same for the mozilla-stuff. talk to the admin, but i doubt, that they will set up kde just for you. ;)

Just thought I post to close this thread.

Picture viewing is OK now after I reloaded the Java using j2re-1_4_2_05-linux-i586.rpm.

To switch desktop when you are using VNC or X windows, you need to create a file .desktop in your home directory, the file should contain one line :

DESKTOP=KDE or GNOME or whatever desktop you decide to use

Once you switched, remember to restart the vncserver.

The .desktop file overwrites the system default /etc/sysconfig/desktop file
