jmr0311
Hi everybody, I'm a newbie in Mandrake Linux 10 and I've been enjoy every second of it. But at this moment I need some help, Fot the last week or so I've being trying to add a bootsplash screen right when Lilo start executing the mandrake OS, you know, the black screen with all those words of all the procces been initialize. I want to add the Linux penguin from www.bootsplash.org in the background of that screen. I find out that mandrake has some script files that if you run them it will do all the necessary steps to add the bootsplash. I'm trying to run this shell scripts that are located in this directory; /usr/share/bootsplash/scripts make-boot splash "nameoftheme" rewritejpeg "nameofjpeg.jpeg" switch-themes "nameoftheme" But my question is, Do I have to be login as a root in the directory where the scripts reside for them to be execute it?, How the sript know where to look for for the theme file? Any suggestions guys are very appreciate it. [moved from Installing Mandrake by spinynorman]
Qchem
You'll need to be root to run those yes. Where to look for themes will either be set within the script, or you'll need to add the absolute path to them - I'm not familiar with this specific script.
