tube013
Trying to get linux up and running on a crappy emachines eone. This happens in both X and at the console. I've tried xvidtune, with no luck, part of the problem is that the monitor has a fixed horiz. freq (3 of them) . the lilo boot prompt is centered correctly, as is teh dos prompt from a dost boot disk. any help is appreciated. forgot to mention, the eone has no manual screen adjustment buttons. bvc
Did xvidtune not change your screen while running, or did the changes not save after a reboot, or after restarting X? Because, xvidtune is only good for the current session. If it works while running, you need to use the settings from xvidtune and put them in XF86Config/-4, which ever you're using. tube013
xvidtune didn't do a thing.. in the current session. I've tried a few different modlines with no luck also X works but the whole screen is shifted over to the left about 3/4 of an inch. also the console is shifted the same. so I don't think its a X thing. maybe there's a kerenl param you can pass from lilo??? win2k runs okay as well, and the ati driver there has an adjustment feature that works. I'm really trying to get linux on it as I want to move my mom to it. I tried gutting the thing hoping I could use a different monitor, and create a new case for it, but it wouldn't boot with out it's own monitor connected..
