i get an error when i try to untar this package...

i am having a problem untaring this .bz2 file

i have tried untaring it by the graphical method, ie rt clicking on it and saying extract here but i get an error message that says: "An error occured while extracting the archive"

so i also tried the terminal method by entering the following command as root:

tar -xjv 10657-TubeClock.tar.bz2

however, when i execute the command, the cursor just goes to the next line and sits there, it will not extract the file, i let it sit there doing noting for 10 min, nothing happens, i also watched ksysguard and noticed that there was not much cpu activity,

please tell me it is just the file, and not my computer, try to unzip it for yourself using the link above

Oh you are unpacking to a fat32? Make sure you unpack to a volume that supports permissions besides read/write. Also, make sure you have permissions to use the volume you are unpacking too.

From my experience, it certainly does. Why in the world would you want to unpack it in a fat32 partition in the first place. Having a fat32 partition mounted in Linux is only to enable transfer of stuff between linux and windows, not another partition in which to do Linux work such as unpacking a tar file.

Doing it in root is even more unbelievable.

btw, i just brought it back to my lin drive, and unpacked it there, it works fine now...
