bvc
maybe this is old news but there's a new way of doing this, well it's a little different. Worked for me while setting up linux for the wife ....again Just giving a heads up :D http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/downlo...rsion=Netscape4

bvc
1. it's officially from mm....no the other was not. (not the last I checked) 2. it installs to as many installs as you want e.g. moz, firefox, opera etc....all at once.....no need to rerun the installer. 3. I said it may be old news....if it is, just say so, but it wasn't mentioned here....is now ;) 4. I posted this because after 2 years of posting the link to the old, ppl still were downloading the tarball and making symlinks and copying plugins -> dirs ....it's not necessary anymore!!!!!....still! Is there anything else you'd like to know? :P :bvc: Search Edited June 28, 2004 by bvc
zero0w
Making symlink works great if you have multiple browsers. Um... that download from Macromedia has always been available I think. B) But the installer may have improved for this version. Anyway, RPM install works fine. Edited June 28, 2004 by zero0w

zero0w
Making symlink works great if you have multiple browsers yeah, n00bs think so to Not just that, if you happen to install a new browser it also works pretty good. Doesn't matter whether it's n00b or guru .
bvc
how does that change now?
zero0w
Hmm, I see the whole point of this thread is you like the new official flashplayer installer. B) Anyway, both ways work great as well.
bvc
yeah, that's the point Mr. Group: Members Posts: 775 Member No.: 151 Joined: 6-October 02 you don't want to run it, don't. Not all of us use distros that readily have rpms....*cough...that work, or even rpms. Telling the installer in one run /usr/lib/mozilla-1.6 /usr/lib/firefox /share/firefox /share/opera was a lot easier and faster than symlinks ;)
zero0w
Wow, take it easy. There's no need to get personal B) . So it will scan your directory structure for browser name that's what you are trying to say.
bvc
no, you have to tell it....but before, it didn't ask, it scanned, which sucked because it left you with having to symlink. I never had a prob but many do, and I think it'll be easier for ppl to give a /path/to/firefox for them. See?
zero0w
no, you have to tell it... I see, so the new feature is asking users for all browser path(s) during install. (Can't remember if the older version works this way....) Edited June 28, 2004 by zero0w
