Guest brk3
Hi all, Ive been using mdk 9.1 for a while now. its sound, no probs - the one thing thats kind of annoyed me all along though(ive been kind of ignoring it) is the fact that the pc wont power off itself. Lately ive found that if i turn acpi = on/hf in my lilo.conf its solves the problem and it powers off on shutdown. This isnt without opening up much more major probs. When booting down i get a message to the gist of "APIC fatal error(CPU0)". this scrolls dows the screen before it powers off. now i could put up with this cause it doesnt seem to do any damage(strange though) however the worst prob is that my modem locks when i go to dial up or interact with it at all. not only does it lock but when it does this the whole system freezes and i have to hold the off button. not good. I see others are having similar probs with acpi issues(havent heard one of the modem hanging the system before though). Is there anyone out there who could help! its the things like this that just make linux a bit of a pain over windows. Thanks
GodFlesh
In your place i would first update the bios and then try a newer kernel (10.0 is out and very nice you know...:)
