Guest zarazek
I recently installed Mandrake 10.0 (2.6.3-7 kernel) on my server. After that I found out that I cannot use IRC from my LAN-stations (windows) anymore. I have tried many ident deamons (pident, oident, mident, masqidentd) - they all seems to waiting for connections or 113 port, but every try to connect to the IRC servers (*.irc.pl) results in: You (unknown@*.sdi.tpnet.pl) are banned from this server: ident required (expires@never). The IRC clients (mIRC, Pirch) have the ident options enabled. It was all working fine on Mandrake 9.0 (midentd). Can somebody help me with that? Is it somehow related to the 2.6.* kernels? Ronin
Is the ident daemon running? Never mind its windows machines it runs be default on those as I recall. Ok then is 113 forwarded back to the correct machine that you are ircing from? If you have to have ident running on the firewall try using fakeidentd perhaps? I believe I had to go with that one when I ran ident on my firewall.
Guest zarazek
Thanks Ronin - it seems like fakeidentd works ok.
VeeDubb
You also might try updating that kernel. It's up to 2.6.3-13mdk on the update mirrors, and I think there's a 2.6.6 on the contrib that people have had mixe resuts with
