phunni
I have succesfully exported my home directory to my local machine using control center. The settings are identical to those for /mnt/cdrom export except that /mnt/cdrom is moutned read only. Does this mean that I can only do a network install if I have copied the files onto my hard drive? I'm not sure that I have space for this - is there way of cutting down the files that I need to copy? (e.g. I probably don't need all the interantionalisation files as I only speak english)
SoulSe
Ok, let's sort this out once and for all and save you ten years on your life  You only have to copy the first disc onto your computer (about 700mb). In the install, tell mandrake you only have the first disc (it can do an install + X with just the first disc). Once you have a basic install on the computer, you can at least boot into it and setup sharing properly, etc. or urpmi all the packages you need. This should be a satisfactory work around? phunni
Thank you - got it installed eventually. I removed loads of unnecessary files and uninstaled loads of packages and just squeezed it on in the end Thanks again
