streeter
What output do you get from the query modem dialogue? Chris
bvc
and run kppp from the terminal to see if it gives errors.
Pierre
Hi The output from Kppp terminal: ATZ OK ATI LT V.92 Data+Fax Modem Version 8.31 OK ATI 1 E851 OK ATI 3 LT V.92 Data+Fax Modem Version 8.31 OK ATI 5 8.31,0,19,11C1,0440,11C1,0440 OK ATDT1222 CONNECT 52000 NoEC NO CARRIER My understanding is that NoEC reflects the failure of the modems to talk between them although the analog part of the line is definitely working. When I check with dmesg I have NO lines with PPP so I guess it is not there, but don't know why.

bvc
looks right. look for ppp errors in /var/log/messages What auth handshake have you used in the past? PAP or CHAP? Have you tried to set kppp to try both? http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/NoEC.html http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/archive-third/msg00476.html could try it manually http://axion.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html or with wvdial http://gnomesupport.org/forums/viewtopic.p...ighlight=wvdial http://gnomesupport.org/forums/viewtopic.p...ighlight=wvdial wvdial was always great and was the easiest solution with my old conexant winmodem.
