How to control FTP SERVER

Hello Folks

Lately my FTP server was hacked.

Simple question, does anyone know if Mandrake or other

software out there, that alert you via email or popups

if certain users ip gets to your server.

Like adding ip to an alert table, once the server

identify the ip, it sent an alert.

 

Or is there a location / file I can edit and

enter unwanted IPs

Best place would be in the firewall, then they cant get into anything. Which firewall you using?
