titous09
in the /mnt folder i have a cdrom folder which is empty. the fstab file has this: /dev/hdc1 / ext3 default 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 /dev/hdc6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noatuo,ro,exec 0 0 non /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hdc5 swap defaults 0
chris:b
titous, you have created a cd-rom icon on your desktop, and forgot to click on one tab where you have to choose the /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom - retry: right click on your desktop - create new -- device --> cd rom: now you have to click on the third tab and choose from the list (small arrow ...) the /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom Click ok. - If you insert now a data cd, wait 2 seconds, then you can click on the icon, and the file manager will open: /mnt/cdrom (I've just reproduced what you did and missed , and got the same error message ...;-)
chris:b
/dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noatuo,ro,exec 0 0 :D 'noatuo' ---> ?? should be: noauto Did you copy and paste, or did you type it? copy and paste in Linux: copy: hightlight the text, paste: press the middle/wheel on your mouse. chris:b
Yes, the same, you just choose: floppy, and later on the tab: /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy <--- you don't have to type it, it's a menu, you will see it :-)
