phunni Posted June 11, 2004 Report Share Posted June 11, 2004 if you run dmesg | more then it will allow you to view the output at your leisure instead of having it all scroll off the screen. Obviously if you are using a console in X then this may not be an issue as you can scroll up - but you may find it a helpful option... mandrake_alf Posted June 21, 2004 Report Share Posted June 21, 2004 The dmesg file is located in /var/log/ and the dmesg command is used to display it. I prefer ( dmesg | less ) because you can scroll forward AND backwards one line or page at a time. Then just to be picky.. you can always use tail and head and their various switches but not really a practical solution unless you know for sure the text your looking for is at/near the top/bottom of the file.. good luck..
