XMMS Installation Problems

So I first tried to use the rpm and got this result.

 

The following packages have bad signatures:
/mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/xmms-1.2.9-4mdk.i586.rpm: Missing signature (Could not read lead bytes)

So I was like 'alright, let's try it a different way' and got the tarball. After uncompressing, I went ./configure and it went through and got this.

 

checking for gtk-config... no
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.2... no

*** If GTK was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GTK_CONFIG environment variable to the

So I try to urpmi gtk+2.0. And it says

 

# urpmi gtk+2.0
Everything already installed

 

Now what do I do?

xmms is a gtk 1.x program. You need >= gtk+1.1.2 for it to run.

 

Try this:

 

urpmi libgtk+1.2

 

Then try installing xmms, though you really should be able to urpmi xmms and get everything...

 

Maybe try heading over to easyurpmi and adding a 'main' and 'contrib' (and 'plf' as well, while you're at it) source and try it from there.

It *Should* install of the CD, and the deps are certianly on it.

 

Try and install it from an online repository for Urpmi. Setup instructions for online repositories are in the FAQs, RPM02

 

Should that fail, there is a GTK2 version of XMMS, called BeepMP that is way cool.
