lilo question

I wanted to change the boot order and delete some things from the boot list. I went into /etc/lilo.conf and rearranged the order but that didn't do anything. neither did changing the default label from "linux" to "windows". also, how do you "run" lilo after you configure the file? thanks :)

Anytime you make changes in lilo, you must type "lilo -v" at the command line. The changes will not take affect, otherwise.

run as in, either the Run dialog in the menu (will work but won't show you errors) or open a terminal>su to root

su <hit Enter>
enter_root_password <hit Enter>

>type lilo -v <hit Enter>
