Dustpuppy
I've just installed 10OE on my Dell Inspiron 5000e, and I've hit my first problem. I previously had 9.2 installed on it, and although the problem I had with the screen has been cleared up in 10, the mousepad now doesn't work fully. It works as a pointer when I drag my finger across it, but tapping on the pad doesn't now have the effect of pressing the left mouse button - I have to use the buttons at the bottom of the mousepad. It worked fine in 9.2 and I didn't have to do anything there to make it work, just chose the default mouse option, so I don't know why it isn't working now. It's currently set as the default, Universal, any PS/2 & USB mouse. This is a big problem because I have RSI and the buttons are very stiff, which will become a serious problem very soon. dydige
I have an Acer Aspire 1703, with a glidepoint style mouse, it worked under 9.2, but doesn't work under 10.0 OE. I asked Mandrake about this problem and after me supplying them with some info back and forth it gave me this sad response: *********** alans : 25/05 07:04 : Reply received though the vast majority of us have benefitted from the 2.6 kernel's mouse support, you seem to have not. the setup in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file should support both the glidepoint and the mouse you have plugged in simultaniously. but your particular laptop must have some oddity about the way that the glidepoint is implemented that does not allow the kernel to even see it. you can probably install the (included) 2.4 kernel and boot with it and get your glidepoint to work. do you need instructions on how to do this? -- Alan -- Mandrakesoft Support Team :) ************ Not the biggest problem for me, more of a slight annoyance really. Dustpuppy
The thing is, it recognises the pad and I can use it to move the mouse around - it just won't accept a tap on the pad as a left mouse click. I don't even know what it should be called in mousedrake - is it glidepoint?
