I know that k3b can do that..but if it is good, I don't know... never used it.

Quickrip did also do this, but it seems it just discontinued, but is maybe already picked up again.

Maybe a little more than you ask ... a video editor:

This is for use with kde ...although you can also use them if you use something else than kde.

There is also one that uses the gtk (for gnome)-widgets...I'll have a look around if you want this one.

You also have mencoder. There arre front-ends (graphical apps) that use mencoder:

It's not really for gnome ..but uses gtk(it's also a video-editor actually):

Don't know it t uses gtk, but maybe thos one?:

This app is maybe also interesting for your purpose (it is for conerting between formats "only"..not a fullfledged editor):

I can also mayeb help you if you want to do it using the commandline.

Hopes these get you going.

Im not afraid of the CLI. You might want to post a little information on using CLI to do this.

I have tried one of the apps you mentioned, dvdrip. This program is *very* appealing to me as I have 2 machine that I can use for this and occasionaly my laptop too for a total of 3. I like the idea of distributed processing videos.... speed! The problem that I have run into is auto / video sync is _way_ off, although I have only tried SG1 episode discs with it. I know that dvdrip uses mencode So i figure that the sync issue is something that one could tweak out but I dont know how.

BTW I get the sync issue whenever I use distributed processing or not.
