Hi...

I have successfully installed Smart Link Linux driver on Mandrake 10, and after that I had manually need to make link " ln -sv /dev/ttySL0 /dev/modem " but he should do it during install, and now after every reboot I need to manually load modules with command " modprobe slamr " and after that " /usr/sbin/slmodemd " ?

why is it happening and how to solve it?

Thanx

put "slamr" in /etc/modprobe.preload, that should do it.

As for the second thing, put "/usr/sbin/slmodemd &" to your .xinitrc or any startup script you use.

I haven't used or installed my Smartlink modem myself, but thanks for informing me that it works (and that little ln -sv tip) :)

Hi there,

Could you please let me know from where I can download the Smart Link driver for Mandrake Linux 10.0?

I have the same problem you described so I will follow the setup process you mentioned.

Thanks a lot for your help

SmartLink modems i believe are based on Conexant chipsets....you may want to go here...

http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/?PHPSESSID...c18e0a3699c27b7

:D

They are not.

They have their own chipset actually, lucent Agere if I am not mistaken

The drivers are located in this site

ftp://ftp.smlink.com/linux/unsupported/

For laptops with kernel 2.4.x, I prefer version 2.7.10 (2.7.14 just doesn't work). Version 2.9.7 works somewhat, but the speed goes down after a while.
