How to install Gnome 2.6?

at this point there are no RPM's for Mandrake 10 Official, as at the time of the version freeze for OE gnome 2.6 hadn't been released. There are RPMs for Mandrake 10.0 Community Edition, but Mandrake warns against using CE rpm's on OE.

At this point, you're looking at building it from source. You'd have to build and install gtk 2.4 along with gnome 2.6, and any other dependencies of gnome 2.6. Unless you can hunt down some RPMs somewhere, but I haven't seen any.

I am, however, considering building RPMs of gnome 2.6 for Mandrake 10.0 Official Edition - but this may take a while.

cooker or build...I'd never suggest anyone with build them unless you have a lot of time to kill ;)

i have a lot of time to kill

But gnome 2.6 should arrive in communityin some time...

it is in community edition, has been for a while (assuming my memory is as good as i think it is). it's not in official edition, as official had the version freeze prior to the 2.6 release.
