Guest Paulom Posted May 12, 2004 Report Share Posted May 12, 2004 I have installed Mandrake 9.2 in an Asus mainboard with Via KM400 chipset (Via VT8378 north bridge), and it's using ALSA snd-via82xx driver. The sound was messed with hissings and noises, playing the sound in KDE start or a wav file with xmms. Casually I logged on as root and noticed that the sound was perfect. Looking for differences, I found that Arts was disabled in KDE configuration for root. I disabled Arts for my user and the problems are gone. Can anyone throw some light on the subject?
