Cilar Posted March 19, 2004 Report Share Posted March 19, 2004 (edited) Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to install Mandrake 10CE from my hard drive. My CD burner is almost dead and I don't want to buy another one immediately :unsure: . I installed Mandrake9.2 by unpacking the 3 .iso files on my harddrive and then I made my boot floppy with the hd.img file to start the installation . However it seems that the hd.img file doesn't exist anymore in Mandrake 10CE. (there is only a hd_grub.img (only 167 KB) but it doesn't work). I tried with the hd.img file from Mandrake 9.2 but it doesn't work either. Do you have an idea to install Mandrake 10 CE from the harddrive ? mtweidmann Posted March 20, 2004 Report Share Posted March 20, 2004 I installed 9.2 from a hard drive, and it was pretty painless and very fast. MDK 9.2 had a windows tool for creating the boot disk (sorry but I didn't have a Linux machine available) and it gives the option of what type of disk to create. Then I booted off that disk, it asked me which of the detected partitions the files were on (so its important that you know where they are) and that was pretty much it.
