  1. as you said you can read french language, you should take a look at Linux Mag. If you like programming, it goes quite far and the examples are really good and well explained (serie of articles about making your own OS or programming a chess game in C and gtk+ for example). www.linuxmag-france.org http://www.linuxmag-france.org/presentatio...m.php?famille=1 for Linux Mag.
  2. Yes. After the bios initialization, computer looks at the hda mbr if there is data. If you launch again the installation, can't you directly select the Lilo option ? without reinstalling the rpm files (as far as I recall, one could choose that with Mandrake 9. I don't know if it's still possible with Mandrake 10 though). Another thing you can do is go into the BIOS and ask the computer to boot with the second disk first (hdb). There must be a lot of other solutions to directly put Lilo on the hda mbr but I'm also a newbee lol :)
  3. No you don't have to go into the BIOS to choose which OS you want to boot into. The bootloader (Lilo by default) should be in the hda mbr so that you can choose if you want to boot into Linux or Windows everytime you start up your computer. http://linux.unige.ch/install/mandrake/9.0...ges/reco57.html
  4. ok I finally managed to install Mandrake 10 CE from a harddrive. :D you need to configure menu.lst with http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/hd_grub.cgi
  5. Thanks for the help. I think hd_grub.img is bugged. There are only 3 files in this image : menu.lst stage1 and stage2
  6. Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to install Mandrake 10CE from my hard drive. My CD burner is almost dead and I don't want to buy another one immediately  . I installed Mandrake9.2 by unpacking the 3 .iso files on my harddrive and then I made my boot floppy with the hd.img file to start the installation . However it seems that the hd.img file doesn't exist anymore in Mandrake 10CE. (there is only a hd_grub.img (only 167 KB) but it doesn't work). I tried with the hd.img file from Mandrake 9.2 but it doesn't work either. Do you have an idea to install Mandrake 10 CE from the harddrive ? Thanks in advance. :D
