bill50
I’ve installed Mandrake on my PowerBook G3 1999 Lombard New World Apple Macintosh PPC laptop, but I can’t get the internet connection going. I used the drakconnect internet configuration wizard and it was able to auto detect my modem on ttyS0, but the connection still failed. I went to the Mandrake users doc web site and found a dial-up networking tutorial that suggested generating error logs to see what the problem might be. I got the error messages from “less /var/log/messages”, but I don’t have a clue. How can I use the message below to get an internet connection? localhost drakconnect [2402] : launched command: drakconnect –wizard drakconnect [4404] : ### Program is starting ### drakconnect [4404] brancalessio
Hi! :D I'm not so sure I've understood the problem. I'm not so aquainted with Mac. But I now there are several problems with internal modems (not only in laptops, but also in desktops). That is to say, they do not work at all (no drivers!). There's a site (http://www.linmodems.org), where you can find some stuff about the development of drivers for internal modems If you installed KDE, loop for kppp (open a terminal and type kppp). This program helps you in establishing an internet connection in a simple way. I had some problems in using drakconnect to setup my modem (external, the internal doesn't work). Bye! bill50
Thanks for the reply. My modem is working in the sense that Mandrake recognizes the modem. I'm going to try kppp and let you know what happens.
bvc
What modem? Most of those mods that can't be located are ones that modprobe has never found for me as well. Like all those ethX's that have nothing to do with a modem. Any output from kppp?
