netgear WG511 and my laptop

Hi, is this thing on?

Ok, here's the scenario, I have an older IBM thinkpad i series (500 mhz celeron, 96 mb ram, 5.5 GB hd, not too bad). It is loaded with mandrake 10.0 and I have netgear WG511 PCMCIA card which I'd like to get functioning. My experience with linux is limited, however I am familiar with networking as well as programming, so I hope that gives me an edge in this scenario.

I'd like to know how to setup and configure the WG511 card in my laptop. Due to my lack of experience with linux, I'm going to need a walkthrough on how to do this. I have tried but with no luck. The card is in the slot, I boot up, it detects a D-Links DWL-g650 A1, which is not my card... although I have heard people say that that is supposed to happen. After that i'm stuck. I have no clue how to have it scan for wireless networks or get it to connect. The LEDs refuse to function so I'm guessing the card is not getting love from the OS.

Like I mentioned, a step by step walkthrough would be great as well as instructions on how to operate it once it is up and running.

Thank you for your valuable time.
