Mandrake 10 & nForce 2 & Promise SATA150 TX2plus?

I've got an Asus A7N8X and a promise SATA150 TX2plus SATA controller (I would have used the on-board controller, but ran into :wall: ish problems with it). It is detected fine on startup of the installation. But it often halts with the HDD access light lit solid (sometimes during installation, sometimes during start up, somtimes during disk scans). I know it's not normal, because the system will completely freeze, and won't even respond to keyboard presses or continue what it was doing. Does anyone know if I can get it working? I've heard of people having similar problems w/ my SATA controller on nForce, and that the latest Redhat drivers for this controller supposidly fixed an nForce compatibility issue. But what about Mandrake 10?
