ALSA on 9.2

I have an Aureal-based sound card, which I managed to get working in 9.0 with drivers I got from Sourceforge. However in 9.2 it gives an error saying that it's trying to link code compiled with gcc 2 with code compiled by gcc 3.

I read that recent ALSA builds have support for Aureal cards built in. So I'd be interested in trying this on my system. However, I have no idea how to go about this. It looks like I already have ALSA 0.9.6 installed:

] rpm -qa | grep alsa
libalsa2-0.9.6-3mdk
libalsa2-devel-0.9.6-3mdk
libalsa-data-0.9.6-3mdk

... but I have no idea how to do anything with that. Additionally, I think I need version 0.9.7 but don't know where to find an RPM for it. My usual resource, RPMFind.net, was no help.

I don't seem to have any entries on my KDE menu for Alsa or any sound configuration tools except for KDE asking about aRts.

Any information would be appreciated as I have little to no clue about what to do here.
