DragonMage
This just come out in my Austin Linux Mailing List. It seems that ATI just released a new driver for Linux. It supposedly have 3d acceleration enabled. Anyway, if you have Radeon 8500 and above, just go to ATI webpage and download the drivers at http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html
Guest marcelo
Yes, it works! I have a Radeon 9000 and just have installed the driver. First I made a backup of my XF86Config-4 file. Then I installed the RPM and run fglrxconfig, which created a new config with the required parameters for the card. Finally, I hand-edited the generated file, using my saved config file as a guide. This was necessary, for example, to make my USB mouse work again. But GDM is no longer working, though. Have to start in text mode and use startx... Does anyone knows how to fix this ? Other than that, the 3D performance is great.
