Andrewski
I'm currently in the throes of compiling my very own 2.6 kernel , which I downloaded from Cooker. Just wondering though, I'm thinking of trying out Gentoo this summer, when I'll have the time to mess with it and deal with getting it installed :P. Should I be using a standard kernel from kernel.org so I can use it for both Mandrake and Gentoo? pmpatrick
Part of the gentoo install is compiling your own kernel optimised for your system so I wouldn't plan on using a previously compiled kernel in gentoo, certainly not a mandrake kernel. Also, by this summer there will be a new kernel out which gentoo undoubtedly will have.
