Can't boot Mandrake 9

[Guest synopsys]

I installed Mandrake 9 without issues. But i can't run KDE3 (by typing "StartX" on command prompt after i log on). I got an error message : "Perhaps you don't have the console ownership"

 

I have some trouble during boot too. When the computer is detecting USB devices, the boot jam there (the line reappers again and again, i stopped by doing CTRL+C). At the end of the line there a message : "read only file system"

 

The second trouble during bootup, when starting jserver. The computer freeze about 10 miin. there .. and i got [FAIL] message ..

 

I'm a newbie in Linux, so what can i do to start KDE ?

Secondary Slave : Sony CRX120E (4x4x24)

If any of these aren't present, you'll need to put them in /etc/modules just like above. This is probably not going to help, but it will rule out the possibility, that this is the reason.

 

What is a Quantumm Fireball 4GB? You might search with google to see if there're any issues with it.
