Siddus
I am wondering if apt4rpm works with Mandrake 9.1 or 9.2 ??? If so, then it would be a great feature to use fore updates since apt has a smarter way to handle dependencies than using rpm's, at least for someone like me who is a total newbie regarding linux. kde-head
try urpmi - it's mandrakes version of apt-get. The Easy URPMI site can auto-generate the urpmi commands for you.
bvc
Yes apt works....sorta. The repos's are minimal and fading fast. Why? Urpmi. It has come a long way in the last 2 years and it has a gui called rpmdrake. In no way is apt superior anymore, IMO, and yes I've used Debian as well. If you really want apt4rpm I'd suggest PCLinuxOS and alternatively it's harddrive install. I ran it but need the cutting edge danger zone so I came back to Mandrake cooker. http://www.pclinuxonline.com/pclos/index.html http://distrowatch.rospot.com/table.php?di...ution=pclinuxos http://rootprompt.org/article.php3?article=5847
bvc
There's also rpm-get from mandrake, that supposedly works with mandrake mirrors. [root@localhost root]# urpmf --description rpm-getrpm-get:rpm-get is a simple clone of Debian's apt-get utility for automatically download and install files. Use the /etc/rpm-get.conf file to set up your favorites ftp mirrors. http://speakeasy.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2htm...ubmit=Search+...
