mdemers883
Well guys yet ANOTHER question by me. I'm sure the answer is so simple I'm going to feel like a moron afterwards. I installed a firebird 0.7 tar.gz and extracted it. It created it's own folder "MozillaFirebird" and has a bunch of files in it. The problem is I don't know how to install it from here (or have I already done that) and what file to use as a link on my desktop? Any ideas? :D Mark
ac_dispatcher
Its installed. Click on the MozillaFirebird file in the directory. Did you extrct it into your /home directory? You can click a drag to "link" it on your desktop.
mdemers883
Which file do you think it is? Here is the list: luser@linux:~> cd MozillaFirebird luser@linux:~/MozillaFirebird> ls chrome libmozz.so libxlibrgb.so regxpcom components libnspr4.so libxpcom_compat.so res defaults libnss3.so libxpcom.so run-mozilla.sh icons libnssckbi.so libxpistub.so searchplugins libgkgfx.so libplc4.so mangle shlibsign libgtkembedmoz.so libplds4.so MozillaFirebird timebombgen libgtksuperwin.so libsmime3.so MozillaFirebird-bin xpicleanup libgtkxtbin.so libsoftokn3.chk mozilla-xremote-client libjsj.so libsoftokn3.so plugins libmozjs.so libssl3.so regchrome and yes, I did extract it to my home folder. Any ideas? Mark
Michel
You don't have to compile anything. Go into MozillaFirebird-directory and open MozillaFirebird in that directory. What I did was putting this directory in /usr/share and create a symlink to my /usr/bin-directory. You can also use a script instead of a link, .... So, yopu just have to start it ... mdemers883
I threw the file on the desktop (shortcut) and when I doublt click it it asks me if I want to view it, run it, etc... When I choose "run" it works fine. Mark
